The popular Los Angeles Religious Education Congress is less than 14 days away. This is one of the largest Catholic conferences in the United States and certainly one of the largest gatherings of religious educators worldwide. Although the event is hosted by the diocese of Los Angeles, it is certainly an international event. Over the last forty years the Congress has maintained the same focus: teach more about the Catholic faith and advance personal growth.
The event takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California across the street from Disney Land. This year’s event is March 18-21, 2010. The theme is “Incredible Abundance” drawn from John 10:10, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” As of 2/23/2010 there were over 12,000 youth signed up with almost 3,000 chaperones for the youth day and almost 20,000 people registered for the Congress itself. When you add in the exhibitors and speakers, they have almost 40,000 people attending! Wow!
This year will be my first trip out to he LA RE Congress. I will be joining a large team of people from Ave Maria Press promoting our high school religion textbooks (especially those in accordance with the Bishop’s Framework), parish resources, and trade books. I am so excited to meet the many catechists, religion teachers, parish DRE’s, scholars, and authors that will be attending.
Will you be attending this year? I would love to meet any of you readers out there who will be at the event. Just email me so we can set up a time to meet or come find me in the Ave Maria Press booth. I hope to meet some of you soon!

Hello,
Is it too late to register to go to congress? And can I send my choices of speakers? Please confirm.
Thank you,
