People often say that your vocation is where your greatest passion meets the world’s greatest need. If this blog isn’t a dead give-away, I love teaching religion. I have an insatiable desire to learn everything I can about the Catholic faith and share that love with others. On one restless night of my junior year of college I woke up and wrote down what I wanted to do with my life. The first sentence was, “I don’t want to teach, I want to inspire.” This has been the constant goal throughout my teaching career. But when I first began teaching, I realized a great gap between the quality and quantity of resources available to religion teachers compared with the resources of other teachers. I knew then where my passion and the world’s need collided.
Adolescent Catechetical Specialist at Ave Maria Press
In January I will take the position of Adolescent Catechetical Specialist at Ave Maria Press. There I will be contributing to the development of new high school religion textbooks and working with high school theology teachers to provide the most effective online and in print resources available. I have been very blessed with the knowledge and experience to do this job well. I look forward to entering into the publishing industry and offering my talents in writing, editing, lesson planning, public speaking, blogging, and effective use of social media.
I am very thankful to have been given the opportunity to work for an excellent organization making enormous contributions to the Church. The Alliance for Catholic Education will continue to blaze the trail for others to support Catholic schools. Play Like A Champion Today™ will continue to inspire coaches and parents to think of athletics as a ministry and to motivate athletes in the right way.
I will continue to post on this blog and put you in touch with resources and articles on Twitter and other web 2.0 tools. I also invite you to share your thoughts and visions for the future of religion textbook publishing here by commenting below or on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or by emailing me.
